Congregational CareThe vision of Congregational Care is to organize and equip church members to serve as God’s “compassionate ambassadors” to other members who need healing, encouragement, and strength in times of crisis.
The pastoral or shepherding care of the congregation is carried out through its pastors, its elders, and through the counseling staff at Wellspring Christian Counseling. The senior and associate pastors are available by appointment to address a wide variety of spiritual concerns for Kirk members. Matters requiring extended counsel are often referred to our associated counseling ministry at Wellspring. The elders of the church provide shepherding oversight for Kirk’s members through several vehicles:
K-Groups (small group fellowship) and Sunday school participation, home visitation, and prayer times for congregational needs.
Lay participation in the care of the congregation is strongly encouraged and is carried out through several organized teams:
Concerted Prayer in times of trouble is one of the greatest services provided by members for one another. The Kirk communicates prayer needs through the weekly “Flock Notes” inserted in each Sunday bulletin. The Flock Notes provide prayer requests for individual needs, birth and death announcements, occasional achievement announcements (awards, special anniversaries, etc.) and contact people for the various ministry teams.
