PCA AffiliationThe Kirk of the Hills is a member of The Presbyterian Church in America. The PCA is one of the fastest-growing denominations in the United States. Since its founding in 1973 with 240 congregations and just 40,000 members, it has grown to include more than 1,200 congregations and 300,000 members. With its successful strategy of planting new churches in population-growth areas, the PCA expects to grow rapidly over the coming years. "Reformed" defines the doctrinal beliefs of the PCA, which holds that the purist expressions of scriptural doctrine are found in the Calvinistic creeds, particularly the Westminster Confession of Faith.
The PCA's representative form of church government is rooted in its name--presbyterian. Local churches are governed by elders (presbyters) elected by the church members, who form the Session. All churches within a geographical area form a Presbytery composed of all teaching elders (ministers) and delegated ruling elders from each church. Regional Presbyteries facilitate relations with the General Assembly on the national level and express the PCA's connectionalism which exists among all the churches.
